Skincare Skin Saver: Sunday Riley Luna Oil

Confession time: I have been on a bit of skincare kick, and by skincare I mean luxury/high end/ way too expensive skincare. With the stress that accompanies college life, and the changing weather, my skin has taken a beating. My biggest skin concern has been dehydration from overuse of acne products, and acne scarring from previous breakouts.

So I was in the market for a facial oil that would be skin regenerating, acne scar fading, and moisturizing for my dehydrated skin.

*Cue Intro* And here comes the focus of this post, the Sunday Riley Luna Night Oil.

Sunday Riley’s Description

Luna works throughout the night to deliver more visibly youthful, luminous, even-toned skin in the morning. Trans-retinoic acid ester complex reduces the appearance of pores and wrinkles, while visibly improving the signs of premature aging: fine lines, uneven texture, age spots, dryness, and dullness. BalancMy ted with blue tansy and German chamomile essential oils—both rich in soothing, blue azulene—visible redness and the signs of sensitivity are neutralized for a calm, even-toned complexion. It’s clinically proven to improve fine lines, radiance, and skin smoothness in as little as four weeks, while advanced retinol ester mixed with potent botanicals makes this product the ultimate transformational, sleeping night oil.

Persea Gratissima (Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed Avocado) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Organic, Cold Pressed Concord Grape) Seed Oil, Rubus Fruticosus (Cold Pressed Blackberry) Seed Oil, Salvia Hispanica (Cold Pressed Chia) Oil, Dimethyl Isosorbide (and) Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Tanecetum annuum (Blue Tansy) oil, Anthemis nobilis (English Chamomile) oil, Eriocephalus punctulatus (Cape Chamomile) oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Neroli) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Blood Orange) oil, Cananga Odorata Flower (Ylang Ylang) Oil, Vetivera zizanoides (Vetiver) oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil (and) Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, CI 61565 (Green 6), CI 60725 (Violet 2).

My Thoughts

At $105.00, I was most definitely expecting the world from this oil. And unfortunately for my wallet, it delivered! I have been using this oil as a nighttime moisturizer for a month now, and I have definitely noticed a visible reduction in my acne scars, and a plumpness in smile lines around my mouth. I also feel it has helped with preventing new acne around my mouth. It didn’t clear acne up, but It has definitely made an improvement in any texture issues I have been having. It has a distinct woodsy scent, so if you aren’t a fan of any fragrance, steer clear! But as you rub the product in, the blue color dissipates and so does the scent.

So, choose for yourself if this is a necessity, but I am loving this, and highly recommend if you have been having similar skin issues as me.

  1. I got this same product in my allure beauty box this month and it’s amazing. It was also well timed as I’d just run out of retinol serum. I’m 43 so I look for a little more in my beauty products and this definitely delivered. However, in part because of my age, I actually use this in my morning routine for the extra love. It smells very much like strong chamomile essential oil and the blue totally threw me off at first. But it’s a win if your budget allows.
